It was a pnr but the romance wasn't as large a part as in some other books. The magic using was very well done. I think it is harder to do well than the werewolf/vampire thing because you have to have a firmer grasp on how you (the author) intend to have your magic work. Poorly done the story can just become a bunch of gimmes. There was only a little bit of that near the end but it wasn't too bad. I liked both the hero and the heroine both seemed well written and neither was too alpha or too wimpy. It was good to see the werewolf from the first book make an appearance here. I'll keep on with the series. 'His power grows with every sacrifice. Now he has chosen his final victim. And soon, they will meet in a dreamworld of ecstasy and agony--front which there is no escape... The first person to disappear was an older woman. Then it was a child...then a teenage boy. When Kathryn Reynolds's tenant and friend goes missing, she has no idea that her vanishing could be part of a larger, sinister pattern. But the moment she meets Detective Jack Thornton, time seems to stop--literally. The attraction between them is so strong and undeniable, there's almost something dangerous about it... Jack Thornton had assumed that this was just a routine missing persons report, but there was nothing routine about his response to Kathryn. He's never reacted so quickly or so strongly to any woman before, and the erotic dreams they share threaten to overwhelm his control. But the more he investigates her friend's disappearance, the more uneasy he feels. For he's starting to sense that he and Kathryn are being manipulated by someone...or something. They seem to be playing cat-and-mouse with an unseen enemy--but what Jack doesn't realize is that a killer is on the hunt, and he will stop at nothing to attain his goal. And that the killer is convinced that Kathryn is the key to his dreams of unholy power... ' Rebecca York - Berkley Publishig Group - Edge of the Moon This book was much better than the first in the series. We were given more details about the characters and had a fuller scope of their feelings in this book. The book centers around Kathryn Reynolds who tenent is missing. She calls in to report it and comes in contact for the first time with Jack Thornton a cop. They go on a wild journey through sharing dreams and defending themselves against a magician who is hell bent on owning a demon. He decides to use Jack and Kathryn in his plan to take ownership of the demon. By the way, he also happens to be a serial killer. It is an exciting ride through the sick mind of a killer and the paranormal world that the demon inhabits. This story included Jack Thornton, detective from first book, and Kathryn as a new character. I was held captive with this book as well, as Kathryn and Jack race againist time to save innocent victim at that had of a mad man trying to evoke a demon. The demon is speaking to Jack though dreams to try and save himself. I love the books by Rebecca York. Can't wait to read the next one. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Still, this wasn't a bad escape, and even if it didn't live up to the first book in the series, I enjoyed it well enough for the most part and will (eventually) get around to the third. ( )
