Good-Bye Vivi is about a boy who is going through a death.

Grandma moves in and brings her bird. Eventually, the bird dies of old age, soon followed by granny. But the children know that they will always remember both the bird and granny.

At the beginning of this book, Will's grandmother and her bird Vivi come to live with Will's family. Though it took some time, everyone started to love the bird Vivi and cherish her as part of their family. As seasons passed on, Vivi became weaker and Granny explained that she was becoming old. One day, she stopped moving and eating, but she was still alive, Will's mother wrapped her in a nest of lambs wool and cotton, they gave her water and let her back in her cage to sleep. Overnight Vivi passed away and the family grieved, Grandmother explained that you will always have wonderful memories of Vivi to look back upon. Then later in the year, Grandmother passed away too - she left the children a book of pictures of Vivi, herself and her family for them to reminisce.
