Overall this book did a great job of showing how not every family looks the same. Every family is different, and that is okay. ( ) Goodreads Review: Rhythmic text and illustrations with universal appeal show a toddler spending the day with its mommies. From hide-and-seek to dress-up, then bath time and a kiss goodnight, there's no limit to what a loving family can do together. Shares the loving bond between same-sex parents and their children. I will use this book with students from pre-kinder to 2nd grade. This is American Fiction Children's Literature. This book is about a child and his two mothers. This will teach students that families can be different from others and that is ok. The activities that parent-children do are the same in every household. Mothers play with children, eat together, read stories at night, etcetera. As infant: Utterly unremarkable except for the two-mom family -- one parent lifts the kid up, one parent pours juice, one parent rocks the kid, and so on. Possibly that's the point. (3 stars) As toddler: As our kid started understanding language, this book became a fast favorite. It's very relatable and tells the story of a very fun day. All the components are things that we've done together, so I'm sure that helps quite a bit. At this point our kid will complete the rhymes on each page, and is incredibly proud and happy to do so.
