If you've done an in-depth study in the life of Christ, particularly the crucifixion, Harris will show you it was not deep enough. Perhaps the highlight of the book is when He answered the long time paradox between Peter being used by Satan to divert Jesus from the cross and Satan using Judas to bring Jesus to the cross. In short, the answer was that Satan sought to tempt Jesus unto sin so he wouldn’t get to the cross but once it was clear he was headed there Satan's goal shifted to getting Jesus to despair in that darkest hour on Calvary. Harris draws a parallel between Jesus’ statement in the garden that tonight belongs to the powers of darkness (Lk. 22:53) and God handing Job over to Satan to unleash his most diabolic temptations. In both Job and the life of Christ, Satan was defeated by a man! The Christological typology is fascinating. This a very devotional read!
