He also finds himself in command of a fleet in enemy territory with only one goal: get home. In an impossible situation, Geary has to live up to the his name and pull off a miracle. The fleet is getting closer and closer to home. There is only one problem. They're nearly out of resources. Determined to rescue their prisoners of war, they have to make due with what they have. You know..I can't tell if I genuinely really enjoyed reading Relentless, or if we're just getting so close to the end that I'm excited again. Relentless doesn't feel like we're spinning around in circles anymore. It feels like we're almost there. We can reach our hand out and touch home. We're not just doing the bare minimum, we're not being cautious, we're basically going all speed ahead to try and get home. We're getting closer to Alliance space and Geary is trying to be cautious. He wants to. He is scared. Those few who are closest to him see the signs and verbally slap him out of this. Luckily, this takes no part of the book at all to happen. After this momentary lapse of faith, it is all engines ahead. This lapse of faith also had another side benefit: Geary becomes a better character than he was before. Resources are still a huge problem. They're basically out of everything, and they have no way of getting more. It just isn't possible. They're going to have to make an end run of things, and hope nothing unexpected comes up. Except they come across another camp of prisoners of war, and are determined to do something about it. It'll just mean less resources, unfortunately. It has to be done, otherwise they aren't Alliance. Relentless is really just a really good setup for the finale of the Lost Fleet. We're continuing on the same themes we have had so far, but they're getting more and more endgame. I have no idea what the next book will have in store for me, but I'm super interested in finding out. The plot just gets old. How many star systems can these guys fight their way through until you just can't tell one book in the series from another? Tiiresome long ago, The book nearly brings a sense of closure to the series, without going into too much detail. They're home. But, with some unresolved drama. Makes one wonder why will he go on to book 6? Relentless is the fifth book in the Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell. More politics happen both within and outside the fleet. POWs are rescued and more space battle action. This story arc continues to be varied and interesting unlike some stories, which barely need even one book let alone five. I’m continuing to enjoy the series. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

The raid is successful, but victory is short-lived.
