After a long stalemate and ceasefire, it is time to elect a governor of the New York City DMZ. Matty Roth the drifting journalist is drawn into the circle of a charismatic politician Parco Delgado. His parents also take sides in the electioneering. This is a good portrait of politicking in a war zone (though the war seems to be successfully suspended for the duration). Matty Roth commits himself to more than journalism or a good story. A thread of these DMZ stories is that the NYC DMZ community is strong enough to withstand the daily attacks, bombings and media misinformation of the war. This has been one of my favourites of the series, especially after the disjointed previous installment. ( )

This volume brought things back up to that powerful level (which had been missing in the last couple), posing those hard questions & looking at the hard truths again. Also added a new element and direction for the story-line to take. Fabulous. ( )
