First, I liked how the story had repeated sections that could be done with shared reading in the classroom. For example, the author kept repeating “There was an old lady who swallowed an ___________.” This story would be a delightful book to do shared reading with in the classroom because the students can repeat that section of the story and predict what the little old lady is going to swallow next. Second, I liked how throughout the story there was a lot of rhyming. For example, the author rhymed chick with sick, candy with handy, tasket with basket, and many other rhyming words. This book allows the students to get familiar with a variety of rhyming words. Third, I liked how the illustrations were so colorful and life like, rather than cartoons. The big idea of this story was that everything that the little old lady swallowed made an Easter basket at the end of the story. This book is a unique twist on the classic "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly!' In this book the lady swallows easter and spring themed items unlike the traditional version which make it a fun read during that time of year. Like the original, this book is also written in a rhyme manner which makes it fun and easy for children to read along. It's a silly and engaging tale perfect for any child from ages 4 to 8. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
