I Love You, Blue Kangaroo is about a little girl named Lily who loves her blue kangaroo so much and every night she tells kangaroo that and they fall asleep in each others arms. Eventually, family and friends get Lily a new stuff animals and Lily begins to love them and blue kangaroo gets closer and closer to the edge of the bed and he cant sleep. He begins to think Lily will forget about him. One night, Lily's bed is full of stuffed animals and blue kangaroo falls out of the bed. He makes his way to Lily's brothers bed and sleeps there. Lily's brother is playing outside with blue kangaroo and Lily gets mad and takes him back. Lily's mother says she has so many stuffed animals and let him have just one. She says he can have all these other stuffed animals but not blue kangaroo. So, Lily remembers who was originally important to her and she will never love any stuffed animal as much as she loves blue kangaroo. This was such a cute book and I was even starting to get sad for blue kangaroo when Lily started pushing him aside and forgetting about him. Sometimes that happens in real life with our friends but we will always remember who are true friends are. I really enjoyed this book and the illustrations were cute. I'm sure children will love this book as well. ( )

Blue Kangaroo is Lily's favorite, but when Lily gets a few new friends Blue Kangaroo feels left out. It's only after Lily's brother claims Blue Kangaroo as his own that Lily remembers how important he is.

A very good story about the loyalty of true love. ( )

I love this book. Although I am biased because it is one of my childhood favorites, reading it from an analytic aspect I still love it. I like "I love you, Blue Kangaroo" because of the illustrations and the character as well as the languages. The illustrations on page 4, 8 and 10 show Blue Kangaroo's facial expression. He is very distraught, eyes wide enhancing how lonely Blue Kangaroo is giving the reader a better sense of the text. The characters are developed and have consistent motives. Lily keeps getting new stuffed animals, showering all of them with love and tells each of them every night before bed that she loves them. Lily's baby brother is continuously trying to take Blue Kangaroo while his sister is preoccupied. The language is also consistent and repetitive making the story easy to understand and follow. The text states "i love you yellow cotton rabbit, i love you tiny brown bear..." and Lily repeats this every night before bed. It's a pattern which enhances phonics skills, helps readers predict what will happen next as well as other basic literature skills. The purpose of the text is to show long lasting relationships and the bond between friends. ( )
