Sean Henry's single and multiple-figure groups occupy private and public locations all over the world. In recent years he has won a broad international reputation as one of the most talented British artists of his generation. His first solo show was in London in 1988 and his most recent in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles in 2006. He has exhibited his work in England, America, Australia, Italy, Holland, Sweden and Germany. Current projects range in scale from the intimate 10cm deep relief sculpture "Hotel Room" to "Couple", a 13m high, 18m wide bronze and steel sculpture sited 250m out to sea at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in Northumberland, the first offshore artwork in Britain, which when installed in August 2007, received extensive media coverage including Channel 4, the BBC, The Guardian, The Times and The Independent. As Henry's works continue to grow in popularity, this is a welcome, in-depth analysis of the career, techniques and methods of a unique and talented artist. AUTHOR: Dr Tom Flynn began his career as a fine art auctioneer before completing a Masters in Design History at the Royal College of Art and doctoral research at the University of Sussex. He has lectured widely and has written for numerous specialist international art publications and is the author of The Body in Sculpture, Everyman Art Library. SELLING POINTS: *First major monograph on the artist and his work *Stunning photography of works from the artist's own archives *Looks at the process and methods involved in the creation: materials used, techniques, colours etc as well as the finished works *Includes 2008 commission of nine figures for a major new financial building in the City of London 197 colour & 5 b/w illustrations… (mehr)
