This book would be best for preschool or very young elementary because it is about how to pronounce vowels and goes through words that rhyme so it is a very low level. It shows pigs in the mud and goes through words that rhyme as it is telling their story. This will be good in classrooms because it teaches young children about rhyming and vowel sounds while also keeping them engaged with a story. Stop, Drop, and Flop in the Slop “Stop, Drop, and Flop in the Slop” by Brian P. Cleary is a great book to use for word families. Each page has the words on the left and then a fun illustration filling the rest of the page. The illustrations are cartoon like and age appropriate for beginning readers to enjoy. There is very little text other than the words contained in the word family. For example for the word family “ump”, “The stump and the lump are by the plump grump”. All the big words are from the “ump” word family and the filler words are site words! This book is great to have to practice reading, while enjoying brief stories on each page. My only complaint about this book is when it uses the word family “ass”. My stepson picked up on this “bad word” immediately and he lost concentration and it created a complete side conversation. Although this is a word family, I’m not sure why the author would include “ass” in the book. Even after finishing the book, it was brought up several more times that evening. The big idea of this book is to practice word families while providing enjoyable reading. Zeige 4 von 4 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
