It seemed like a good continuation of the Sayers mysteries. However, the mystery had places where some of the clues should have been obvious but weren't picked up on until later. I'm going to read at least one more of the books that Walsh has written ( ) I thought Jill Paton Walsh did a great job of finishing this story begun by Dorothy Sayers. It takes place very shortly after her final complete book about Lord Peter and Harriet Vane, and I couldn't tell what was Sayers and what was Walsh. To me it was pretty seamless. Strangely enough, I think this book was my introduction to Lord Peter years ago, as it was the only one my library had. Then I had to go and find Sayers' original novels. I suppose it's a bit heretical to like the continuation of the Wimsey/Vane mysteries even better than the originals, but there it is. I love not having to look out for the blatantly racist language that peppers the books from another time, and I love Peter and Harriet together. Gaudy Night and Busman's Honeymoon were always my favorite books of the originals, and it's a tribute to Jill Paton Walsh that her work can flow so seamlessly into Sayers' drafts and plans. So grateful to have these latter day stories, and that are so faithful to the witty wordplay and characters of the earlier books. This audio book version was even read by the same actor as the others, and I am so happy to listen to that reader. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
