Hemmed in by killers, the Executioner fertilizes the Garden State with blood Mack Bolan bombs down the Jersey Turnpike in a stolen Mustang, a bullet lodged in his ribs and blood seeping down his leg. A dragnet is closing in on the Executioner, whose one-man war against the Mafia has crippled the international crime syndicate but has not yet destroyed it. To evade the roadblocks, he turns onto a lonely two-lane highway when he sees a car full of killers coming up behind him.   Bolan only has three bullets, so he lures the hit men into a car wreck, killing them but sacrificing the Mustang. On foot, he limps into the Jersey night. This is the most corrupt state in the union--the place where mob bosses come to retire in tacky little towns whose police are proud to be on the Mafia payroll. The Executioner is alone, unarmed, and hunted by every killer in the state. But that's his comfort zone.  Jersey Guns is the 17th book in the Executioner series, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.… (mehr)

Pendleton' Executioner series is the top action-oriented series ever. Forget James Bond. He's too well dressed. In forget everyone else because no one is as tough or as hardened as Mack Bolan, who returned from the jungles of Vietnam to find the Mafia had waged war at home on decent people. Bolan embarks in a one man crusade against the Mafia and it's a vicious violent war with no quarter given. Bolan is the equivalent of several armored divisions and when he goes into battle mode, it's like the grim reaper in action. Singlehandedly he will take on dozens of armed men and always us the victor. If you like men's adventure, this is your ticket.

Pendleton churned out dozens and dozens of these stories about Bolan, each a battle with the Mafia kill teams, often involving a beautiful gal who falls for him, and an old buddy who is loyal to Bolan and willing to hide him and get weapons to him, including grenades and rocket launchers. Yet, each novel is still well written and compelling. Later novels were written by a host of writers under Pendleton's name ( )

Crossposted at Bookstooge.booklikes.blogspot.wordpress.com by express permission of this reviewer   Synopsis Mack comes back to the US, to heal and rest from his Sicilian escapade, only to be dragged into a battle with the Talifero brothers in Jersey.   My Thoughts Pendleton is back as the writer and I'm glad. We get the ol' Guts and Glory Mack back and does he play hell with the mob.   Book starts out with Mack being chased from the airport by some mobsters, barely escaping and finding a hiding place at a chicken farm. Where, coincidentally, the owner is a former Vietnam war doctor who Bolan met in the war. He also meets said dr's sister. Of course. One thing leads to another and Bolan loves the sister but warns them they are in danger.   So of course the Mob finds them and kidnaps them. Bolan rescues the sister and attempts to rescue the brother. He does recover him, but not in time to save him. So Bolan returns and wipes out the Talifero brother in charge and massacres his minions, something around 100 guys.   In one of my reviews for an earlier book, all I put was "Blam, blam, blam!" This book added some high explosive rounds, some bazooka type missiles and mortars and it was rinse and repeat.   Some times you just need some action to cleanse the palate of all our modern ideas of how to accomplish the impossible. Killing the badguys is such a nice, simple, clean and elegant solution.   Rating: 3.5 of 5 Stars Author: Don Pendleton " ( )
