Young Christopher, who first appeared in Carol and Donald Carrick's Sleep Out, returns in this second picture-book adventure. Now living in the country, Christopher rides the ferry over to the island home of his new friend Gray, taking his dog, Bodger, with him. The boys play pirate on the shore, while Bodger wanders off. When a terrible storm blows up, Christopher is forced to stay overnight with Gray and his family. Bodger, in the meantime, has gotten lost, and Gray's parents determine it would be too dangerous for the boys to go out in the storm, to look for him... Like its predecessor, Lost in the Storm pairs an engaging story with appealing illustrations. Christopher's concern is evident throughout the latter half of the book, making the eventual happy reunion all the more satisfying. The artwork here had a somewhat dated feeling - the clothing, the furniture, and so on - but was still quite effective. I particularly liked the scene in which Christopher and Bodger met again, and the beach scenes were also well done. Recommended to anyone who read and enjoyed Sleep Out, as well as to those who enjoy vintage picture-books. Zeige 2 von 2 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Very nice story about an all too common occurrence of losing a pet. Happily they are reunited.
