This is a book that was assigned by my monthly Christian book group. It is more for short daily readings than a book to be read in one sitting. So I just read it each day along with my morning Bible reading.
At first impression I have not been particularly enthusiastic about Max Lucado's writing. He has quite an imaginative way of illustrating his points which I found a little distracting - paying more attention to clever use of words than the truth he is getting at.
But as I went along, I found that I was even brought to tears by the contrast of the profound truths about Jesus and His relationship with us."The Christ of the galaxies is the Christ of your Mondays" "The universe's Commander-in Chief knows your name."
I especially liked his illustration of the first time he took his dog through a carwash - major panic, no understanding of what was happening. As time went on the dog never really understood what those huge machines and pounding water were about, but he learned to trust his master. The truth: "God's greatest blessings often come costumed as disasters. Any doubters need to do nothing more than ascend the hill of Calvary."
This book was packaged in a 3 in 1 hardback with "Come Thirsty" and "Traveling Light." I will read the other two now as I have found this to be better than I expected.
