This is the Full UK version of the popular young readers novel Pasha and the Lost Mountain. Have you ever imagined while looking at your pet, what if they had a secret life fighting evil magicians in a mystical world. For Tiffany and Peter no imagination was necessary. When they adopted Pasha and Harold they had no idea their lovable hounds had an inherited destiny to fulfill. A Destiny that would see them become warriors for a magical group of inter dimensional overseers looking out for the human race. When their pre-teen masters discover their secret life and magical powers things really get interesting. One things for sure. This globe-trotting high stakes adventure has plenty of bite. Filled with mystical characters and spells a plenty. Follow the warrior group as they battle to maintain the balance of good and evil in this imaginative first entry in the Pasha series.… (mehr)

Not necessarily my cup of tea but still a good story. ( )

Pasha and the Lost Mountain is a fantasy story about two children and the super-powered dogs. As an adult reader I found it flat and full of stereotypes. However, I believe it would capture the attention of a child, particularly one who loved animals. ( )

Pasha and the Lost Mountain is a magical tale about the adventures of two children and their dogs. The ancient plot of good against evil is depicted in a new series of books aimed at young adults who like a little fantasy in their reading material. This fun and fanciful page-turner appeals to all ages.

While some readers may not appreciate some of the humor in this highly readable novel, the majority of readers will probably like the action and adventure the protagonists experience while on their missions. This author, in his debut novel, has created some lovable and realistic characters.

Recommended for readers of fantasy and fiction ages 10 and up.

This review is simultaneously published on Amazon.com, Dragonviews, and LibraryThing. ( )

Dogs with magical powers, and two children with half the globe between them that share them. Dangerous adventures that last minutes in the real world but much longer in the magical alternate reality - all the makings are here of a wonderful young children's story.

Adults will tire of some of the concepts, or perhaps be irritated by the rather stereotypical English family, complete with tweed jackets! But kids probably will not care at all and could love this book. ( )

Pasha and the Lost Mountain is a children's book, or whatever the next reading group from there is. It will most likely appeal to you if you are either a child, or a child at heart (or mind). It will further appeal to you if you like German Shepherds. And it will further appeal to you if you find flatulence to be the highest form of comedy.

Pasha is a German Shepherd, only she comes to discover that she's actually a super hero for some wizard-run organization that seems more like a video game than an actual story plot. She is joined by her brother, as well as two humans and a cat. Together, they go on missions they select from some menu, and earn in-game, err castle, currency that they can use in the shops to buy loot or skills. It seems a very large part of the game, err book, deals with earning coins to buy loot.

I wasn't really impressed by this book. It was a decently written children's book, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The characters all seemed very flat and shallow, and did strange things to move along the plot, like a girl threatening her best friend (albeit, with tattling) just to know a secret.

Oh, and it ends in a cliffhanger (well, a cliffpeerer), just to make sure you come back for more.

My personal opinion of children's literature is that it should be enjoyable to all ages, and be devoid of mature themes. Sure, it can have the occasional bit of adolescent humor, but too much, and it just gets dreadful. Further, just because they are children, doesn't mean they are any less entitled to vivid plots, deep characters, and believable dialogue.

If you are looking for a story to read to your dog and fart-loving child, then Pasha and the Lost Mountain may be a book to read to them (though I'd recommend reading it yourself first, in case the ideas presented in the book may clash with the ideas you want to introduce to your children). ( )
