Novelist Anne George injects murder, mayhem, and laughs into her popular mysteries. Nominated for an Agatha Award, this hilarious tale of two "60 something" sisters reveals the deadly consequences of a hasty real estate purchase. Retired Alabama school teacher Patricia Anne thinks her older sister, flamboyant Mary Alice, has lost her cotton-pickin' mind. On a whim, Mary Alice bought the Skoot 'n' Boot, the local country western night spot where she and her boyfriend hang out. Mary Alice insists it will be easy to run the club-until the previous owner is found executed, gangland style, in the club's wishing well. Suddenly the sheriff is demanding answers, and a killer with unfinished business is sending messages even optimistic Mary Alice can't ignore. With her dramatic sense of timing, narrator Ruth Ann Phimister brings out both the wise-cracking fun and the nail-biting suspense.… (mehr)

Murder on a Girl's Night Out by Anne George is a multi-layered mystery with a very strange cast of characters! This is more than a mystery, it's a study of characters! Each character is so well defined! One of the main characters, the sister to the main character, is so annoying that I am so thankful she is not my sister!
Great plot, dialogue, and world building! Great job! ( )

Fun fluff book about two sisters, in vastly different social and economic situations, solving a murder. The ditzy sister, decides to purchase a local bar/ nightclub, only to find the manager murdered. With help from the more predictable sister, they go through various escapades to solve the crime.
The kind of book to read when you can be easily interrupted. ( )

Fun read! Great book for between other, more dramatic, books or when you just want something easy and entertaining. ( )

What do you get when you have a disciplined retired school teacher and her much-married full of surprises sister? A hilarious mystery that will keep you in stitches and wanting more.

When Patricia Ann is roped into visiting the newly purchased country western bar by her sister Mary Alice, she has no idea that they would get mixed into a wild murder mystery. When previous owner Ed is found dead in the bar, the sisters get knee deep in hilariously trying to solve the murder.

If you are looking for a cozy mystery with fun characters, lots of humor and quick wit, and a madcap who-dunnit, then this is a definite book to add to your TBR list. ( )

New series for me. Two sisters who bicker a lot, and love each other. Charming enough to continue!

Patricia Ann (Mouse) is the cautious, conventional sister. Mary Alice (Sister) is the loud, boisterous life of the party sister. Mary Alice, in her typical "look before you leap" style, buys a Country Western line dancing bar. Then the former owner was found murdered at the bar, and the sisters are on the case.

A pretty well-plotted mystery that kept me guessing along the way. I'll be back to see what shenanigans the girls get into in book 2. Fun cozy mystery series. ( )
