The text briefly details his activities during different times of day and types of weather. The language is simple, employing basic words that children learn early on, but still creates a cute story that draws in the adult reader. The paper cut outs illustrations and felt finger puppet are interesting for adult, but simple enough for the intended age of the child. This is a book for children in 1-2nd grade. This book focuses on what lives in trees, I think the children would find that interesting and would like it because it is such a colorful book. I would use this in my future classroom because it would keep the children interested and very educational. Sara Gillingham is known for her puppet show books, she is an award- winning art director and designer. She is originally from Canada but now lives in San Francisco, she is known for her books she also has one called “In my nest”, and these are all great books and great for a classroom setting. Lorena Siminovich is an author, but also an artist she grew up in Argentina and now lives in San Francisco as well, she is known for many of her books and has won a few awards on them as well. This book is most appropriate for toddlers. This book is about a little owl who takes notice of the activities and objects around him. The book is structured so that the owl is a puppet which children can play with throughout reading the book. The vivid illustrations and proposed actions of the owl make it an interactive read for children. In the end, even though the owl observes things independently, he is happy to be living with his family in his tree.
