The first collection is themed by 'question.' All story titles are in the form of a question, except for the final, by Asimov, which has the word 'question' in the title. This scheme made the editor's job easier, as they only needed to consider stories that qualified for the gimmick, but the schema isn't really relevant to the structure or import of the stories The second collection is epistolary and related stories - those told primarily via letters, diaries, or memos. This scheme is often very relevant, because there is no omniscient narrator - the stories progress within the timeframe of the narrator. Unfortunately a few of the stories were not in keeping with the spirit of the schema, because they were written more as: Dear Sister, this is what happened to me those years past." But mostly the gimmick made the stories more interesting. As always with short story collections, appeal was uneven. There were a few stories I did not 'get' and a few I opine are of dubious quality, but in general Asimov's taste and mine agree and I was pleased with this book."
