I can't actually write a review for this one, as I didn't finish it. This sounded like such a fun novel, but I wasn't feeling it at all. I seem to be in the minority for this as well. When I was first contacted about reviewing the book, I was told it was 'paranormal mystery romance'...but its not really any of those things. Each category is represented only superficially. I think this read too much like 'chick lit' for me to enjoy it, since I'm not a chick-lit person. There isn't much else to say about this one. I received pre-release version of this book free from Goodreads. It is a fun, engaging and suspensful read. The plot was unique and fresh with a shocking twist at the end. The characters are rich and multifaceted and the relationships have a depth that is rare for a novel of this lengh and genre. You can't help but root for Lucy and you're left eagerly awaiting her next adventure! Truly, Madly 4 Stars After her father suffers a heart attack, Lucy Valentine is roped into working for the family matchmaking business. Unfortunately, the Cupid-like ability bestowed on all Valentines enabling them to match couples based on their auras was shocked right out of Lucy during an electrical surge. Instead, Lucy possesses the ability to find lost items, which is all well and good until they come attached to dead bodies . . . A delightful mix of mystery, romance and humor. The mystery is intriguing albeit somewhat predictable, but it is Lucy and the other characters in the story that make this such an entertaining read. Lucy is an absolutely charming heroine who accepts her psychic ability without reservation and doesn't balk at using it when necessary. The potential romance with the sexy private investigator Sean Donahue is compelling as is the problem of overcoming the Valentine family curse. Looking forward to continuing with the series. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

The cover (I know, I know: book covers and all that) was kind of off-putting, like some really shallow romance thing. I am not sure if I even realized it was going to be a mystery. But it is and I actually enjoyed it. I liked her characterization, and the pacing. Didn't see the end coming, so that was a treat, too.
I already like Ms. Webber's writing and style, since I seem to be reading loads of her books. I like her gentle sprinklings of the supernatural, yet depicted in the most natural possible way. And this one was like that. But I also liked that through the main character, she explores how having unusual abilities affects people who do not want to seem crazy or superhuman. Can't wait to read the next one in this series. ( )
