Its first printing in 1657, more than 50 years after it was written, was anonymous. The second issue, later the same year, added Marlowe's name to the title page -- essentially a guess. Scholarship has shown that it is almost certainly to be identified with The Spanish Moor's Tragedy (1600) of Henslowe's Diary, written by Thomas Dekker, William Haughton and John Daye (and John Marston?) and it is included by Fredson Bowers in his Dramatic Works of Thomas Dekker, Vol. IV (1968).  | |
