I absolutely loved this story!! I read a lot of fiction around WWll. I have noticed that there are fewer books about the war in Italy this one really shined a light on the human experience for the people living in Italy. There were heartbreaking parts but it was a beautiful love story as well. I loved the ending. I had this one my TBR shelf for way to long. I have another book by this author and I will not wait so long to read it. Highly recommend! (

Ms Alexadra adds a touch of gruesome to an otherwise gentle story of Rosa, a young girl raised in the shelter of a convent who becomes governess to Clementina. Clementina's parents are the Marchese and Marchesa Scarfiotti, a rather unconventional couple living 1920's Fascist Tuscany.

What a lovely book to read. I found it hard to put it down once I started. A bit of romance, mystery and an adventure into the uncertain with the very brave and much to be admired Rosa. Would like to read more by this author. (
