Summary: Desert fae are solitary, owing their allegiance to no court. Maili has threatened the alpha status of Sionnach and Rika, and Keenan, the Summer King, has offered to help keep order. Rika is a former Winter Girl, and refuses to ever be bound to Keenan again. But if Rika is to maintain order among her Fae, she's going to have to make some tough choices.

Review: This volume wraps up the Wicked Lovely Desert Tales storyline. As a whole, it's been an fun but non-essential companion to the main Wicked Lovely series of books (there's a brief mention of Keenan's time in the desert in the beginning of Darkest Mercy, but that's it.) Speaking of Keenan, he's spends most of this volume once again being an insufferable prat, but this is made up for by the fact that we get some screen time with Donia. This installment was pretty quick, even by the standards set by the previous two volumes. There's a lot of action, and a lot of people staring at each other, but not really all that much plot. What plot there is does neatly bring the storyline of the series to a close, however, and in general I had a good time reading it. 3 out of 5 stars.

Recommendation: This series is interesting enough to be worth checking out for fans of the Wicked Lovely books, but probably not otherwise. ( )
