The plot unwound pretty much on cue until I was pleasantly surprised by the end. First in Evanovich's Stephanie Plum's series. I enjoy these books in short spurts, then I get bored and need to move on because the tropes are too repetitive for me but still fun. (  ) DaveReadsaLittle | Jan 30, 2022 | This was a fast, humorous read that, overall, I enjoyed. It was my first time trying Evanovich, and although I didn't always 100% believe in the main character (let alone like her), the book won me over in the end and got better as I stuck with it. I did really enjoy the twisting of the plot and the way humor was balanced against story and character, so I may try the next in the series. My one complaint beyond the character sometimes being more funny than real was how fast the ending got wrapped up, so I'll be curious to see if that's a pacing issue that repeats itself in the next book in the series. That said, this is a case where I'm going to proceed tentatively vs. going out and buying more than one further book by the author. I'll buy one more, and proceed from there, as this was more of an okay, enjoyable read for me than something I'm anxious to repeat in terms of reading experience.
