Just as the title suggests, this book is about a divorced family. Katie's parents have recently gotten a divorce, and Katie is trying to adjust to her new life where she does not get to see her dad all the time. Katie sees her dad almost every Saturday and learns new things. Although she is upset, she learns that the situation is not so bad.

I give this book five stars because I was just so impressed with the way the author describes why people get divorced. The author also makes sure to let kids know that when their parents divorce, it is never their fault. Furthermore, the story shows how each parent is unique in how he or she shows love for the daughter. The illustrations, too, were perfect because the colors are more subdued, and they pair well with this less than ideal situation. I also liked that the author shows the alternative option of staying in an unhappy marriage and what the repercussions may be for the child(ren) in that family. All in all, I think this is the perfect book for children to read when learning about the topic of divorce. ( )

This book is about a young girl name Katie who parents got divorced. When Katie sees her dad packing all his things she begins to feel worried and sad she doesn't want him to leave. She is worried about how will she see him if he lives separate from her and her mom and she is sad because her mom is sad. This book does a great good job with capturing character emotions. At the end of the story the Katie dad's reassures her that even though they live apart now, they will see each other every Saturday. I picked this book to get a sense of how a young girl feels living between two parents. This was research for my children's book. ( )

When Katie's parents are in the process of divorce, her father moves out. She must work through a variety of emotions, and learn that her father still loves her...even if she only sees him Saturdays.

This is a good book for children whose parents are going through a divorce. I liked this book because it showed all of the things a child may be feeling but not sure how to communicated; scared, anxious, sad. Katie is scared that when her parents get divorced, her dad will never come back or that he will eventually forget about her. After Katie starts seeing her dad on Saturday's she realizes that the things her parents told her were true; her dad will always be there for her, the divorce was not her fault, and things will get better. I would deficiently recommend this book for a child who is dealing with divorce in their family. ( )
