"Add to catalog" acting strange

Hello! If I'm just doing something wrong, please feel free to lovingly tell me to kick rocks.

I see there are messages all over of "if you're adding to your catalog, go to the Add Books screen." For some reason, some of the books that I'm searching for are just not coming up. However, if I search for these titles they exist in Library Thing and have an "Add to Catalogue" button. For a couple titles, clicking the add button gives me a confirmation window to add something completely different, and other times it says it can't find the book that I'm currently staring at the page for.

I feel odd adding these books manually even though they already exist in this massive database. I've tried expanding my search sources in the Add Books page to no avail. Is there another setting or step I'm missing?

Can you give us a few examples of what books you're looking at? We might help better if we have specifics.

LT itself is not a source. The add button is just a shortcut for books that are easy to find in sources.

If you cannot find a book in sources, you can add it manually.

You can always check the catalogs of those who have the book and see what source they used. Often, you'll find in these situations that the other users added the book manually, in which case you'll have to do the same.

But it really would help us help you if you would give a few examples. Not just the title of the book, but the search terms you used (ISBN? author/title?) and what source you were using (Overcat? LOC? Amazon?)
