Deari group,
Buffy my Calico cat (at least 18+ y.) was showing signs of Dementia.eg. sleeping on Public verge, on my front yard (we have no front fences)
I brought her in whenever I found her...but... one day a dog mauled her. Killed her.
It hurt. The owner of the dog told me many lies, Fortunately some neighbours saw what happened.
I could have reported the owner/dog to the council but they would have killed the dog (not its first offence)
The fault lay with the dogs owner (who thought paying money would make problems disappear) Arsehole. But I felt he loved the dog.
I guess I would have liked another year with Buffy.
Guido
PS. Kit kat now sleeps on the edge of my bed. Still a bit reticent - after about 3 years. But...But... he follows me everywhere inside.
Outside when call I him, he magically appears :-)

How dreadful.
but please reconsider reporting this to the council. Next time it could be a child.
My condolences on your loss. We never have enough time with them do we?

So sorry guido :(
Are you sure putting the dog down is the policy? There are normally training programs and re-homing them here. Perhaps contact some shelter that has experience with these things and they can advise and/or help.
Hope the little one comes more out if its shell now to comfort you. They can be surprising that way

>4 SandraArdnas: If it's not a first offense, the dog may well be put down. If it has a history of violent attacks, as Guido said, this would be a likely outcome. And in truth, really ought to be. The dog's next victim might not be some poor elderly kitty on her last paws but a child or an elderly person.
