Mass Import without ISBN?

I have an extensive collection of books that predate ISBNs that I would like to import into LibraryThing. Following the given .csv format exactly always fails when the ISBN value is blank. The example .csv format that is included in the instructions, the one you'd think would be perfect, also fails when the ISBN value is blank.

Surely this has come up. What is the solution?

Sorry. You will have to manually add them.

Hmm. The .csv import has been working for me without ISBN:s almost always. There was a day or two with problems both in ISBN and non-ISBN import, but filling the example ISBN with my book data has worked very well this fall.

Well I am having the same problem here. I prepared a csv file as indicated in LibraryThingSample.csv with about 450 titles. None of the books have an ISBN (they are rather old). Tried to import. The system responded that there are no books in the file.

This is a very old topic (from 2010).

You could write a new topic or use a recent one, and in Bug Collectors to get help from staff. Like https://www.librarything.com/topic/351843

The first thing I would try is to import just a few books.

>4 DASP: One possible problem might be that you didn0t include the ISBN column at all. Import must have the exact same format as sample one, you just leave the values blank

Thanks for your returns. I tried again importing a txt file (and not an csv as I did before). Seems working.
