This has been an enjoyable book to learn from. It's lower intermediate level and comes bundled with a teaching guide, which is helpful for learning with tutors.

I use a few different textbooks, each with a different tutor (so I don't get my lessons mixed up by using the same book). Each chapter is divided into a few sections: A passage, a similar conversation, vocabulary list, grammar explanation, practice questions.

The passages and conversions are everyday life situations and can be incredibly humorous at times (purposely) as well as useful. Also comes with a CD for listening and shadowing practice.

Also, this book will only provide furigana for a new word once per chapter. Therefore you must remember how to read the kanji the next time you come across it. This is very helpful because when a text always has furigana above the vocab, I find myself reading it rather than trying to remember the reading the kanji.

This may not be the best book for your main text, but it is certainly an enjoyable supplemental book to study from.… (mehr)
