Wounded Wings by Shauna Allen
Dedication and acknowledgements and location included at the start.
Elijah is grieving her being gone...story goes back in time to when he is at a diner and notices Naomi who's dropped off bakery items...
He ends up being the chef there as the last one had just up and left...
Story also follows Michael and he's on assignment and knows who Elijah is....
Beautiful that others come to her aid to help with health emergencies so she stays above water.
Other medical emergencies bring them together and also make them hesitant to one another.
She does not want the benefit to be rescheduled, it must go on.
When he realizes Naomi has gotten under his skin he knows what he has to do...
Like that there are just a handful of characters, easy to keep them straight.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Ahh teen angst. Blake and Delilah to outsiders could not be more different. But being rich or poor does not define how you feel and these two both share the common feeling of being disappointed by their parents. Blake has been given a few raw deals in his life. After his mother died both his father and older brother went down the wrong roads. His father is an abusive alcoholic now and his brother is serving time in prison. Blake wants so much more out of life but he is letting the past mess with his self esteem making him feel he is worthless. There is one thing that makes him happy that he is good at and that is working on cars. He’s also had his eye on a pretty girl in class but knows she is far out of his reach. Or so he thinks.

Delilah’s family started off reasonably normal until her father become Sheriff and her mother a judge and their greed for power took over. Now they expect their children to tow the pretty little line and be at all the political functions smiling and projecting themselves as a perfect little family. Delilah wants her old parents back – the ones that showed her they loved her for her not as something to advance a political career. She has a kind soul and doesn’t judge other’s by their financial standing.

A fender bender between Blake and Delilah starts off a tentative friendship that soon blossoms into young love. Blake cannot see how the relationship is going to work knowing there is no way her father will ever accept him. Delilah doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She just knows she has never felt this way about anyone before and doesn’t want to lose Blake.

This was a prequel to a new series that is going to be about Blake and Delilah and their friends. We got to meet all of the guys who will be the leads in the future books and I look forward to reading their stories. The first book in the series will be a continuation of Blake and Delilah’s story.

Crank is the continuing story of Blake and Delilah. Their story started in Burnout when they were in high school. They both had issues from their childhood that affected them – Blake more than Delilah but these two people from different sides of the tracks managed to fall in love and defy the odds. Or so we think at the end of that book.

Crank starts 10 years later into their marriage and it has hit the skids. The books takes us through what went wrong during those 10 years and Blake deciding he wants to fight for his marriage even though Delilah has given up. There were plenty of heart breaking things that happened over the years plus more that happened current day. Even though it was quite an emotional journey and Blake had to make a huge decision on whether to let his past keep messing up his future the outcome/epilogue was worth it.

All the characters that were in the first book are back and we get a glimpse into what their stories will be in future books.
