The verbose narrative turned me off on the very first page. I totally lost interest. I rather read about a clear setting, with time and place described and therefore relatable or at least defined and easily imagined for characters to exist in that setting.

I did not love this book and quit at page 100. I have multiple pages turned down where I was confused about things - on two different occasions the main character asks for red wine - once the waitress brings Sauvignon Blanc and the other time a Chenin Blanc, which was described as tasting of black currant and dark chocolate. So confusing, does the author not know anything about wine and if not, why get so specific? Signatures by Lucas Alves was a bit of a struggle for me to read. The particular style of writing the author has felt much more suited to a screenplay, which is a form he has experience in, than to a novel. The descriptive passages seemed to dominate and I never felt invested in the character Landon. It felt like a slice of life novel which can be very good, but somehow it never felt consequential to me.

There was too much detailed description of movements and it kept throwing me out of the reading.
I was also thrown by the formatting - no quotation marks, different font.
Maybe I will try again, but for now, it is an unfinished read
