I liked the quick overview of the history of Christmas in the U.S. leading up to 1945. Though I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, my parents grew up in the time period this book covers, and therefore I was familiar with some of the fads, decorations, and toys described here. This is a breezy read...I wish it went a little deeper into some things. But I learned some things, especially how much World War II affected social life, science and technology in the decades that followed.
