This book was such a fun and easy read. Serwa's day-to-day experiences actually had me laughing out loud as there were so many that I felt were so relatable to my life as well as many of my friends and family. I also found it hard to put this book down until I was finished reading it. Her feisty personality along with her smart remarks and thoughts will actually have you rooting for her character. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for some good humour and a good read! I can't wait for the sequel of this book.… (mehr)

Serwa Akoto's Diary by Asabea Ashun is quite a refreshing read. While reading the book I called a friend to have a no ego, no judgment conversation as the book made me realize having it all can be a little overzealous. As a young woman from a traditional culture, yet raised in the western culture, it caused me to question many things. One being; 'what is wrong with being a single woman at age of 25, who is not counting down the days to her wedding day' even if is she successful, smart, accomplished or beautiful. I found I could not put this book down. Serwa is unapologetic and voices what most of us wish we could say ourselves and be true to ourselves. I immensely recommend this book to my friends and family, especially my sisters. It is a must read regardless of your culture, as it depicts many of the issues we are experiencing as we try to balance and blend two cultures into one.

I sincerely love Serwa Akoto's Diary I know you will not be disappointed. Copies can be obtained from Amazon.com for only $12.99. Pick up your copy and experience this journey, with Serwa’s own sense of humor. I was late the next morning for work because I just had to finish the book in one night.

“I enjoyed this book immensely. The storyline is exotic, full of intrigue and suspense. I recommend it to anyone willing to take an adventure into the inner workings of mixed marriages especially those brewed in the african pot. I liked reading some of the historical background to the coastal peoples and as a Ghanaian, it was interesting to read of the perspectives of those who come to live in our country. The story was fast paced also and I've got to say - I could hear various relative's voices in the characters Asabea Ashun uses - they are real people that I think I've met before!"… (mehr)
