References to hands played by other bridge legends, notably Zia, his successes at bluff and his dismal failure when he only fooled his partner Chagas who thought Zia was upto his usual tricks are presented with feminine wiles. Sixteen hands of a come-from-behind Venice trophy win against France merit the sixteen chapters, but each chapter veers off into an impassioned discussion of some aspect of the game, always original, always opinionated. Femme fatale of bridge, let opponents beware.
The fantastic aspect of the book is its educational value, letting an advancing player penetrate the mind of the expert, who is sharing with her bidding theories and her reconstruction techniques.… (mehr)
