Joseph Auslander (1897–1965)

I very much enjoyed this 1926 edition of Joseph Auslander's poetry. I must admit the title intigued me but I was not disappointed with this work. Auslander's poems are dark with sharp cutting verse. Many poems are working class industrial people. Longer poems like The Knouckout show the brutality of boxing. The title poem while very long shows his deep thought where he mixes in some mythology with the working class. I was not real familiar with the poets work before reading this bit I genuinely enjoyed the book.… (mehr)
