I'm not sure I would do the same as this woman if I saw myself. Maybe she'll turn the car around and make a different choice.

It's got an odd format. The "house" is telling the MC stuff she should already know. "You stand in the kitchen, holding the steel in your right hand. A finger slides down the sharp edge, testing its strength as you do calculations in your head. The slow creep of a smile indicates you are happy with your choice. Drawn away in visions to the future, everything is interrupted by a quick slip and slice as you drop the knife. We notice the dribble of blood, a bead welling at the tip, inviting a hungry mouth. You bring the cut to your lips and suck on it a moment and then examine the depth."

Also there are breaks in the visual story that are not indicated in the audio telling at all. I hate that, it causes problems for the listener. I should have pre-reviewed and dismissed it as a podcast due to the breaks.



The story is about a woman who is starting over, or on her own, and moves into the house. It is in need of renovations but no carpenter will even come to do a bid on work. There is a voice that narrates the story and by the end we have a full understanding of who owns that voice and why no one comes to the house.½

I liked being able to read a story written by a narrator & host that I'm fond of.

It is basically a realistic fiction story with a bit of speculative fiction added in. The fiction was added when the MC finds a neglected Kitchen Witch "Baba Yaga" in a tea set she took home from her deceased grandfather's home. As she fixed up the Kitchen Witch she learned of it's history within the family and even fixed herself up in the process, with some help *wink*.½
