It is difficult to say just what exactly this book wants to be. It features entries which discuss various levels of technology throughout the history of mankind. These entries are sound and inspring (though I somewhat question the point of covering the era of Information Technology). But the problem is that there simply aren't enough items to make it a good stand-alone product.

The cover text conveys that the book has "Everything you need and more!", and furthermore "Over 1,200 illustrations". Well, the former is simply not true. And although the latter may be true, it doesn't take away the fact that only a relatively small fraction of these illustrations are relevant (so THAT's what a sword looks like...)

If your game setting is completely void of shopping lists, by all means buy the book. If you are building a setting from scratch and just want some technology pointers, it's a decent source of information. If you are looking for The Only Items Resource You Will Ever Need, keep looking...… (mehr)
