Notable to me for a debnate between E.T. Donaldson (my Chaucer teacher at Yale ) and Robert Kaske (who gave a workshop onsources at Yale, though he was at Cornell) on Robertson's use (or abuse) of patristic methosd of allegory in interpreting English medieval literature,.
Personally I agree with Donaldson in opposing the idea that all medieval literature can be understood this way.
