Sarah Black has created a fun,feel good romance story with some definite ideas about American eating habits in this book. Julio and Kenny Lee went to culinary school together and became fast friends. They fell in love with Slow Cook which is home made food using fresh ingredients. Julio is the better and more imaginative cook of the two but has sold out Slow Cook for the money. Kenny Lee is determined to make a go of his cooking but is insecure. The two men sell gourmet cookies at the local farmer's market but the problem is that America wants bigger and faster food instead of the pure, natural foods that actually taste good. Kenny Lee has always had a crush on Julio so when Julio asks him to dump the States and Slow Cook in Belize, Kenny Lee is right there. I enjoyed the two men and their casual love for each other along with their competitiveness over food. The story was not complicated but had a wonderful feel to it in its simplicity. The commentary on American eating habits was unfortunately spot on. This is one of those rare back to the simple life stories that just leaves the reader feeling good.… (mehr)
