Sorcha Black

Twenty-year-old Lane has signed up to spend a month on an island where she will be pampered and spoiled in five-star luxury and hunted by sadistic brutish men in a series of barbaric events. She has done this to secure a tertiary scholarship for her younger sister, who would otherwise be unable to continue her education beyond high school.

Sorcha Black has given us a smart, resourceful and very likeable heroine in Lane and thrown her into the midst of some real monsters, and Ajax and Calder - also sadistic brutes, but with hearts of gold and in a long-term relationship themselves - who may be interested enough in Lane to keep her safe through her ordeal.

The location is idyllic, the men are variously gorgeous and monstrous, the peril is real and the sex is breathtaking. If you like it dark and rough, you'll find a lot to like here.

This is the first book in a series. Lane gets her happily-ever-after, but there is a lead-in to a second book - already available at the time of this review - which follows another young woman through her experience on the island.… (mehr)

I have been a fan of this author for a very long time. I was excited to see her step out of her pseudonym and embrace the fact that she is a very talented writer. She writes with a strong conviction that can be felt in all aspects of the characters; their flaws, their emotions, their fears, and their weaknesses. That was especially true with this book.

I won't lie and say I was concerned at first about how this was going to be a MMF romance when there was no interaction in regards to that for a very long time in the story. I shouldn't have been worried as this author knows how to give her audience a little steam. And by little I mean a lot. It was hot, it pushed the boundaries and was definitely not vanilla by any stretch of the imagination.

This book would have ranked higher if the climax of the story didn't feel so rushed. There was just so much that I still wanted to know about the hows and why. When it finally came together it felt too perfect but at the same time imperfect. I did like the very ending to see that these characters did get to experience a love that many consider blasphemous but managed to do it in an imperfect world proving that love is love.… (mehr)
