Predictable from about ten pages in, but not a bad quick beach read.

Free on Kindle. Pretty silly but OK.

This was a delightful free read from Amazon. It had charm, wit and a healthy dose of humor.

Jess Reynolds is in full swing of her maid of honor duties for her best friend Carla's upcoming wedding. It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't have to be seen in a bridesmaid's dress "the Civil War era threw up on", dodge her mother's hints about finding a date in time for the wedding (because God forbid the maid of honor shows up without one), and trying to avoid Carla's attempts at hooking her up with the gorgeous best man. And then there is Riley. Carla's "older idiot brother".

He tended to put bugs in my hair; I tended to put his hand in warm water while he was sleeping whenever I stayed over at Carla's.

Jess and Carla have been best friends for over twenty-two years. She's known Riley just as long but their friendship has always been rooted in playing pranks on one another as kids, and as adults it has morphed into verbal sparring matches. As the wedding nears, Riley surprisingly suggests that Jess move in with him, since the newly weds will be needing their own space. The idea of moving back in with her parents horrifies her so Riley would be the lesser of two evils. The more time they spend together, the more their verbal jabs lose steam. It's not long before she's stealing looks at Riley and noticing things she's never seen before.

I drop my head into my palm. Seriously, why do I find this at all attractive? A week ago, this conversation would have had me wanting to hit Riley's head against the wall. And now, I want to throw Riley against that wall and make out with him until our lips fall off.

When friends and family aren't surprised by her latest epiphany, she's stunned. Was she really the last to know?

I laughed from start to finish. The characters are all quite lovable. Was this cheesy? Yes, but I loved the lightheartedness of it. If you enjoyed 27 Dresses or My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding, I think you'll like this too.

I don't know what it is with the couple of chic lit books I've picked up as of late, but every single one of them has the message that if you're x amount of pounds over being a size 4/6 .. then you're just not attractive and you can't see why any guy at all would be interested in you. REALLY? REALLY?

"Why would the hero of this book want me when he can get a pretty girl who fits into single digit jeans?" JFC. Headdesk. The heroine asks this a couple of times within the book. Because that's what it ALL boils down to when you like someone of course. Egads. Sorry.

/Rant done.

Some of the dialogue was cute.. but the characters were immature and silly stupid.
