This is actually two stories in one. The first is the titular Have You Considered Murder? Jack and Rob are just trying to do their job, thank you very much. Their job is robbing this bank, which they have now done. They were not expecting to have to deal with a gobby witness intent on being murdered.

The second story is called is All I Want for Christmas is a Werewolf. I don't know why it's called that, but sure… Let's go with it. Del doesn't like Christmas. Her colleague, Maureen is a Christmas fanatic. Maureen insists the only reason Del doesn't love Christmas is because she's alone. There are no werewolves, but also… This is not a romance.

I genuinely loved both these stories. They were both completely unique and original. Although both are just a few short pages, we got to know the characters well. And both ended in ways I did not see coming (in the best possible ways).

This book ticked a lot of boxes for me – a murder mystery in a science fiction setting with a lovable giant of a dog? Yes, please!

Sam is a junior agent in the Commonwealth Bureau of Investigation. A family emergency meant she had to take a few months off and now she's stuck in a low-level job in nowheresville. To cope with his PTSD, Maclives in a drug-induced haze. Together, they have to solve a murder that Sam's boss wants written off as a suicide.

I really enjoyed this one. While there was some romance, it wasn't the focus and never got in the way of the story.… (mehr)

This science fiction mystery novel is fast-paced and intriguing, as an agent in agent in future dystopian America tries to figure out the identities of presumed clones in an Alabama field, only to stumble into something more insidious. Some of the time-bendy, mind-bendy elements can be confusing at times--a common peril with science fiction of this nature--but Brooks is good about having her characters talk through everything in such a way that the reader can find the flow again. The world-building here is subtle and deftly done.… (mehr)
