- A feminist theorist and expert on sexual abuse, Laura Brown represents a cutting edge in therapeutic practice. Her approach deals more explicitly than traditional therapies with issues such as power, ethics, sexual harassment, gender roles, sexual orientation, and body image. Her work in recovered memories and tireless work on behalf of social justice issues related to gays and lesbians has been groundbreaking.
Among Brown's most significant works are the following books: Subversive Dialogues: Theories in Feminist Therapy; Recovered Memories of Abuse; Fat Oppression and Psychotherapy: A Feminist Perspective; Personality and Psychopathology; and Diversity and Complexity in Feminist Therapy.
Brown is based in Seattle, where she maintains an active therapy and consulting practice and is Professor of Psychology at Argosy University Seattle-School of Professional Psychology. [adapted from The Mummy at the Dining Room Table (2003)]
