A young boy who is beginning to question the "spirit of Christmas" gets the ride of his life on the Polar Express. He shares many adventures with other express riders and other colorful characters as they travel to the North Pole. Interesting theme and imaginative animation. Recommend.

I wasn't sure if this would be good or not, it's excellent. An American returns to Vietnam in 1984 to find out about the men he fought against. and about the aftermath of the war. Well written and insightful. The author became a screen writer and wrote Apollo 13, Cast Away, Planet of the Apes (2001) and Flags of Our Fathers amongst others. As I was writing this review I am listening to music on YouTube and Brother in Arms by Dire Straits has come on.

Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

2022 movie #198. 2004. Another Xmas movie I put off too long. I thought the trailer looked creepy. The movie is a bit creepy (the 3D animation of the human characters is a little off-putting) but otherwise enjoyable. Probably a bit scary for little kids.

Rewatch of a favourite film. I love this film - I think it's fabulously done. I am too young to remember the real life occurance so the first time I saw this I had no idea what would happen. And although it's a story about engineering going wrong, it's also a story about very clever engineers and scientists making engineering go right. The making a square peg fit in a round hole is one of my favourite scenes in this. Brilliant all around.

It must be 20 years since I saw this film so I'd forgotten most of it. I remembered the plane crash whilst in a toilet! and of course "Wilson" but little else. It's an entertaining film with the ever reliable Tom Hanks. I wouldn't enthuse about it but it's enjoyable enough.½

This was a fantastic television series that was not to be missed. I am thrilled that it has come out in a box set.

One of the most predictable movies I've ever seen. I really expected to like it. I also expected it to be essentially a Tom Hanks one man show, which it is not. It has its moments to make it worth seeing, but... meh.

Top notch Robinson Crusoe stuff, the movie gets a huge life from the investment made in Tom Hanks's character. Spoiler alert: my favorite moment is when he at long last makes good his escape, and you can feel his former prison tugging at his heart, and the music comes up--and you realize there has been no music since he was stranded. First rate film making.

This is one of my favorite films--one I saw more than once in theaters and then watched to death on DVD. I just adored that one scene where you see the rocket smoking, ice falling as it shoots up in the sky with the wives of the astronauts watching. And the scenes in Mission Control as they pull together a plan to save the astronauts. Ed Harris was particularly memorable as Gene Krantz--but the cast didn't have one weak link. I have a friend who didn't like the film--but she doesn't care for Tom Hanks and is no space buff. Otherwise, I'd think this is a surefire winner I'd recommend to anyone.

No where near as good as the original movies. Why try to improve upon perfection?

Had never seen the movie once, but once again try to read in English is quite difficult.
If you do not know and talk about the movie, I think the word may be difficult.
Part of the story had been forgotten and I had also become well know the meaning.
Otherwise, the story is good and olso I could enjoy.½
