Ireland's Forgotten Past: A History of the… von Turtle Bunbury
A reader should have some knowledge of Irish history (I do not) before reading these little snippets of fact to appreciate most of them. I liked the more recent events he described, involving world events. It was so interesting to read about them from an Irish perspective. For example, I didn’t know that Ireland was neutral during WWII. And that Ireland took in orphaned German children after the war in Operation Shamrock as few countries did.
VANISHING IRELAND - THIRD VOLUME NEARING COMPLETION
Apparently work is nearing completion on a third volume of the highly acclaimed 'Vanishing Ireland' series which will be published in the autumn of 2011. The second volume, 'Vanishing Ireland - Further Chronicles of a Disappearing World' was shortlisted for the IES Irish Published Book of the Year Award 2010.
Turtle and his co-author James Fennell will appear at the 2011 Kildare Readers Festival in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, on Saturday 14th May, to talk with The Examiner's Siobhan Cronin about the 'Vanishing Ireland' project.
