Siri Caldwell

A sequel of sorts to Caldwell's "Angel's Touch," Gwynne Abernathy (who as introduced in the prior book) is devastated when her mother and younger sister die. She does energy healing for a living, but she was powerless to save either of them. Disillusioned, she takes a managerial job and leaves energy healing - and the angels who couldn't help her - behind.

Abby Vogel, a harpist...err...harper, sees angels; she just doesn't think anyone else can. The angels have always guided her, but now a new angel she doesn't recognize - Elle - has some earth-shattering news about Abby's past - and future. But to follow the angels, she has to leave Gwynne behind.

I really liked this book. The author's first book kind of meandered around, but this one stayed on track much better. I'm not sure if it's the editing or the author's increasing writing skills ("Angel's Touch" was the author's first novel), but whatever the reason, I appreciated it.

Recommended for those who enjoyed "Angel's Touch" or those who like some New Age in their lesbian romances.… (mehr)

Megan is a masseuse who believes in past lives, angels, ley lines, and karma. Kira is a business developer who is only in Piper Beach to renovate a hotel before moving on, and she definitely doesn't believe in any of that stuff. But there's an undeniable spark between the two, and Kira soon begins to discover that there's more to life than what meets the eye.

I really did like this book; I enjoyed the New Age feel to it, and I liked both Megan and Kira. I do think that the book would have benefited from tighter editing, though; there didn't seem to be a lot of direction in the book, especially in the middle, when the characters just floundered around for a while under flimsy pretenses. Once I got over the middle hump, however, things were back on track. I think if the author had narrowed down the various drama-inducing plots to one or two (maybe saving the ley lines, which was totally anticlimactic after so much buildup, and the end plot, which I won't spoil), it would have been a better read.

Still, I did enjoy reading this book, and I would recommend it to those who want a little more New Age in their lesbian romance reads.… (mehr)
