Suspense and Lust...

There was intrigue and suspense, but no real mystery, except other than where the gold supposedly was. We knew who the killer was, how he evolved, but, to me, he was pretty much your average Baddie.

Liked Joe and Inspector Peterson very much and think Hunter is a very intriguing character. Hope we get to know them better in book two.

Have to say there was no real romance here...only emotionless lust, which I wasn't very happy with. I'm no prude and enjoy sex in my books, especially the romances, but this left me unsatisfied on several levels. Also not happy with the way Maggy treated the one person who really cared about her, flaunting her sexual relationship with another man, who also wanted no strings attached. Do feel it would have been better for Maggy to abstain, at least for one book.

All in all, I felt let down by the end of the book and that's why 3.5 stars, not four. I'm hoping the second book will be better. Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.
