We loved this book for so many reasons. The illustrations are thickly outlined and brightly colored, visually loud and clear and perfectly partnered to the text. The two little elephants are siblings, but they are so different - just like my two boys! Even though they are different, because they are different, they each find their own separate place in the world where they fit and are happy for the other.

This book is very informative when teaching about animals of the wild. This book gives exceptional detail about apes and how they live in their natural environment. Humans originated from these creatures and it is important for students to know about this.

I like this informational text about lacrosse for two reasons. First, I like the text features that it includes such as illustrations, labels, table of contents, and glossary as these features make it easy to navigate the book. I also like the simplistic language and clear descriptions that the author used to teach young readers about using maps. Its short sentences and easy to process words make reading this informational text and comprehending easy for a young crowd.

This book is a great informational book because the pages have so much information about symbols on the map, different kinds of maps, and cardinal directions. It also has a key that explains why certain landmarks are important.

I would use this book as a read aloud for social studies in a young grade. I would use this book also by having children learn about the different landmarks in the U.S.

Media Mixed media.

This book is an information book from a series of publications known as Would You Believe It Books. This particular selection from the series describes the bark of different trees, explaining the barks functions and enumerates some of the many ways we use it, from corks to roofing material. The pictures are vivid and there are many exciting and interesting facts included. The text is arranged in a simple fashion and fairly easy to read.

I think this book would make an excellent supplement to a science unit on trees it would also be an interesting art study book for textures, it's a great way to learn about plants. and also interesting to focus specifically on how we use the resources that are available to us.

Extention activities could include taking tree bark rubbings with crayon and paper from various trees on a TREE WALK. Or possibly inviting a basket maker to talk about making baskets from bark and what they were originally used for and who made them in the past and who makes them today.

Grasses is a book about the different types of grass and its uses. From eating grass to making music from grass, this book shows it all. The book also has a map in the back showing all the names of the places that the book uses.

I enjoyed looking at the pictures in this book. The photographs are really nice and would help a student understand what the text is saying. I found this book very informational about the different uses of grass, some I did know, and some I did not know.

I would have this book available to the students to use as a resource when we are studying earth science or the many uses of grass. Students may also use this book to choose one item and do further research on. For example, if a student picks Grass in Glass from this book, he or she will be able to find out about all the products that grass makes that are sold in jars, like perfume.
