A love affair. They were both under monastic vow, openly in love with each other; expressed and lived through their deep commitment to the Christ figure. The sweet, soft, nurturing nature of their spirituality is warmly expressed through their letters. It was the post Reformation Christian perspective through the lens of French spirituality.
