Andrew Chapman (4) (1960–)

Having played this yesterday I am forced to revise my rating upwards. This is a subtle and tricky gamebook that riffs on Sinbad and the Odyssey and is a pleasure to play. Whilst it is not as deadly as some of the FF books, it is still really quite hard to get the readies you need to be declared winner and many attempts and mapmaking is likely to be necessary.

As an aside, this was the first gamebook I ever got, from a church or scout jumble sale around 1988. I didn't understand the tropes really so it never became a favourite at the time. I suspect that might change!… (mehr)

Question originalité, on est servi : on incarne un pirate sanguinaire dont le but est d'amasser le plus de butin possible en moins de cinquante jours. De plus, l'univers a un coté Mésopotamie Antique/Orient, ce qui change du mediéval-fantastique classique.

Cette aventure non linéaire offre une grande variété d'itinéraire, et les défis proposés sont variés (aborder un vaisseau, piller une ville, dérober un rubis dans un temple, se battre à poings nus avec un cyclope...), ce qui fait qu'on ne s'ennuie pas. Les quatre étoiles sont méritées.… (mehr)
