Margaret Hale and John Thornton due to various circumstances arrive at the London docks ready to depart for Spain. Due to an accident on the docks Margaret is injured and Thornton decides to offer her his protection as her 'brother'. Leading to various problems on the ship and later when they arrive in Spain.

This well-written story begins with the wedding of Lydia Bennet to Wickham but Darcy has failed to appear as promised. What happens to him and why is told.
I would probably rate this as 3.5 stars, and I would have given it a 4 star raring if there had been less angst described of Elizabeth and Darcy, or it it had only been implied. I would have preferred for the mystery to have been the main story as that, certainly for me, was the interesting aspect of this story.

With this Pride and Prejudice variation, the latest scheme of Lady Catherine to force Darcy to marry Anne has resulted in Darcy staggering about on the London streets, drugged and attired as a footman. Only to be rescued by Mrs Gardiner, Elizabeth and Catherine Bennet travelling in the Gardiner carriage. Circumstances lead Darcy and Elizabeth to spend the next day together where they start to get to know each other. But Elizabeth's reputation is at risk.
